How the activity works

The ‘SEA CRUISE’ activity lasts approximately one hour, departing from the port of Capbreton in the Landes region. This trip takes place aboard the motor launch ‘Vedette’, with passenger numbers limited to 12 to ensure a friendly atmosphere and the chance to chat with the captain.

1️⃣ Itinerary and schedule:

  1. Boarding: please meet at the port of Capbreton at the time agreed when booking.
  2. Departure and sailing: the catamaran leaves the Boucarot channel and heads out to sea to sail along the southern coast of the Landes.
  3. Exploration and sightseeing: enjoy unique views of the Côte d’Argent, spot marine wildlife (you might even see dolphins) and seabirds, and discover the ocean’s riches. The captain shares anecdotes, local stories and maritime legends throughout the trip.
  4. Interaction and discussion: the intimate setting allows you to ask the captain questions and learn more about the region, the wildlife, the geology (notably the Capbreton Gouf), and local maritime history.
  5. Return to port: after about an hour’s sailing, return to the port of Capbreton.

2️⃣ Practical tips:

  • Bring sunglasses, sun cream, a camera, binoculars and a notebook to make the most of the experience.
  • We strongly recommend booking as early as possible, especially during the high season.

3️⃣ Highlights at a glance:

  • Panoramic views of the Landes coast and the Basque mountains
  • Marine wildlife and birdwatching
  • Anecdotes and stories told by the captain
  • Suitable for everyone, whether travelling alone, with family or with friends
  • Capacity limited to 12 people for greater comfort and interaction

This activity is ideal for exploring the coast from a unique perspective, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with the chance to experience a few surprises depending on the marine life you encounter that day.

🛥️ What sort of boat is used for this trip?

This is a typical motorboat, designed for coastal cruises and sea-watching.

🛎️ Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, booking is strongly recommended, especially during the peak season (July–August), to ensure you get a place.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Is the 1-hour walk suitable for children and families?

🛟 Do you need to be a good sailor or have previous sailing experience?

No, no experience is required: this is a boat trip supervised by a professional crew who take care of the navigation.

🤢 Can you get seasick on a one-hour boat trip?

It’s possible, especially if the sea is rough; an hour is still a short time, but if you’re prone to seasickness, avoid days when the swell is heavy and opt for calmer afternoons instead.

🌊 Does the trip go ahead if it’s windy or there’s a bit of a swell?

It may go ahead if conditions remain safe, but may be cancelled or postponed in the event of rough seas, strong winds or deteriorating weather conditions.
