This region is made up of five French departments: Loire Atlantique, Vendée, Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne and Sarthe. Each has its own specific tourist attractions in terms of nature and culture, the promise of a fabulous holiday experience at your 3, 4 or 5-star campsite!
The Pays de la Loire region in western France is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the region of Brittany in the north and that of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, just south. The region is traversed by - and takes its name from - France’s longest river, the Loire, which stretches for more than 1,000 kilometres.
Here, the châteaux are part and parcel of the Pays de la Loire landscape, standing like historic icons on the banks of the river. These majestic monuments are a world-unique ensemble waiting to be explored. Be spellbound and experience life in a château!
The most beautiful settings aren’t necessarily on the other side of the world. The Pays de la Loire offers you a complete change of scene, right here in France. Discover, for example the Mervent-Vouvant Forest and disappear among the dense vegetation.
Visit the little Tuscany of Loire Atlantique, exploring the narrow streets of Clisson, a beautiful village full of red roof tiles and Roman arches. Go for a walk in Europe’s largest Japanese garden, the Oriental Park of Maulévrier, or discover a whole new planet by visiting the slag heap of Abbaretz!
Head for the Atlantic coast to enjoy a beautiful walk towards Pornic or the island of Yeu. You’ll also be able to venture onto Tahiti beach and other remote places, or or into the heavenly bay of Soux!
To enjoy the water elsewhere than at your campsite’s pool complex, head for the beaches on the coast or at the rivers and lakes of Pays de la Loire. There you’ll be able to enjoy all kinds of water sports involving a board, a canoe or a boat!!
In addition to natural sites and beautiful scenery, the region boasts a wealth of culinary specialities too! Try delicious seafood fresh from the catch, the famous charcuterie and some wonderful cheeses, such as those from Le Curé Nantais!
You can of course visit the famous châteaux of the Loire Valley, such as those in Saumur and Montsoreau. The Loire can be explored by bike along the 230 kilometres of cycle paths, with vineyards, châteaux and villages full of character to see along the way.
Last but not least, you can even go and admire the sublime Machines of the Isle of Nantes and climb onto the back of a giant elephant, or explore the very mysterious Robert Tatin palace museum. We also recommend you spend at least a day at one of the world’s best theme parks that needs no introduction, Puy du Fou!
