The towns of Landes
Landes tourist attractions
Landes…a must-visit holiday hotspot in France! Appreciate the huge diversity of settings, including the immense pine forest. And what would the French department of Landes be without its famous shores of golden sand stretching to infinity? The most precious treasure of Landes is the ocean itself, ebbing and flowing with the intensity of its wild beauty. You’ll also love the vast stretches of water tucked away in the forest, like the lakes of Biscarrosse and Soustons, home to a host of remarkable species, some of which are protected.
But Landes also boasts an outstanding array of culinary specialities. Meet the men and women who strive to keep the farming passion alive. Learn how to fully appreciate Armagnac, rediscover the flavour of duck served in every form and, for sweet tooths, savour the local taste of “pastis landais” (brioche) and “tourtière landaise” (pie)
To help you digest these choice dishes, visit the region’s churches, admire the Art-Deco architecture and walk to the miraculous sources. There’s nothing quite like the heritage of Landes to take you back in time! Landes likes to showcase its vestiges of the past, from the Prehistoric era at the Archeoparc of Brassempouy, to the Gallo-Roman remains of Dax, by way of the Middle Ages at the bastides of Saint-Justin and Monfort-en-Chalosse. The Marquèze ecomuseum retraces the wonderful saga of the resin workers of Despiau and Wlérick. A whole programme!
Recharge your batteries at a campsite with a vast pool complex, just a stone’s throw from the beach
Enjoy the balminess of summer and the unmistakeable scent of pine resin. Delight in the melody of birdsong and the rustling of ferns as a deer discreetly bounds past. So now we’ve convinced you, it’s time for you to choose a location from which to fully appreciate this lovely environment.
In Landes, you’ll find just the right mobile home rental to match your preferences as well as your budget. Unless of course you prefer an exposed or shady spot on which to pitch your tent or park your camper van. Anything’s possible here!
Unwind at our campsites’ spacious pool areas, have fun on the giant slides, and enjoy a tranquil swim in sunny Landes. The kids will be impatient to try our water play features!
And if you prefer a more natural place to swim, all of our campsites in Landes are right by the ocean. With towel and parasol under your arm, you can head off on foot for a day at the beach!
Must-dos near your campsite in Landes
Whichever campsite you choose, there’ll always be plenty of organised activities and pursuits to choose from, in addition to the facilities available on the premises.
Tucked between the tall maritime pines and golden beaches, the dunes watch over the ocean waves that stretch as far as the eye can see. In the vicinity of your holiday village, at the ocean beaches or on the lakes, you’ll be able to try surfing or paddleboarding, take out a pedalo or even go fishing, not to mention all sorts of other activities. Go canoeing on the River Leyre, enjoy a boat trip on the Courant d’Huchet coastal river, or take long walks in the forests of Landes. You can also see Hossegor in all its splendour as the Place des Landais bursts into life during various events.
If you’re lucky enough to be staying in South-West France in mid-August, then take the opportunity to attend the Ferias of Dax, when the spirit of togetherness is greater than at any other festival in France or Spain. Held around the bull ring, the Ferias have everyone dressing in white and red to party all day and into the night...

Visit Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains for its beaches and port, Soustons for its lakes and water activities, as well as Dax for its thermal baths and historical heritage. Hossegor is also a vibrant city nearby, known for its beaches and shops.
