Terms and conditions of the activity
- From 6 years old for standard rafting, from 12 years old for mini-rafts (a sportier version of canoe-rafting for 1–2 people)
- You must be in good health, able to swim 25 metres and able to put your head under water
- Please bring a swimsuit and a towel, as well as a pair of trainers suitable for use in water (special white-water shoes can be hired on site for €5 per pair)
- A safe course with fun breaks
How the activity works
1️⃣ Reception and facilities
1. Location: Bidarray Base (Basque Country), on the banks of the River Nive, with direct access to the Natura 2000-designated trail.
2. Equipment provided:
- Neoprene wetsuits (season-appropriate), helmets, lifejackets and paddles.
- Top-of-the-range equipment: lightweight rafts, adjustable helmets with traceable barcodes.
2️⃣ How the trip works
1. Briefing (30 minutes)
- Safety instructions and paddling techniques explained by a state-qualified instructor.
- Division into teams (3 to 8 people per raft) with a guide on board.
2. Rafting trip down the River Nive (2 to 3 hours)
- Suitable route: Class II–III rapids alternating with calm sections.
- Additional activities: impromptu canyoning (jumps into pools) and white-water swimming.
- Educational elements: commentary on local biodiversity (birds of prey, the Nive’s ecosystem).
3️⃣ Practical information
1. What to bring: swimming costume, closed-toe shoes, towel.
2. Services included:
- Picnic area with barbecues and tables.
- Free car park, changing rooms and showers.
