đ Cybersecurity FAQs
Welcome to our cybersecurity help centre.
This page answers all your questions about how to browse, book and pay securely on our website.
1. UNDERSTANDING THE RISKS
â What is cybersecurity?
Cybersecurity encompasses all the measures taken to protect your personal data, your devices and your payments against online attacks (hacking, identity theft, fraud, etc.).
â What is phishing?
Phishing is a technique used by cybercriminals to deceive you. They send fraudulent messages (emails, text messages, WhatsApp messages, etc.) that mimic official communications (e.g. booking confirmations, payment requests) with the aim of obtaining your personal or banking details.
â Why is the holiday season a high-risk period?
Summer is peak season for cyberattacks: more holidaymakers are booking online, using public Wi-Fi networks and are in a hurry. Cybercriminals take advantage of this drop in vigilance and the sense of urgency to trap users.
â What are the risks if I click on a suspicious link?
Theft of your login details (email, social media and banking accounts).
Viruses or malware being installed on your device.
Financial loss if fraudulent payments are made.
Identity theft to carry out further fraud in your name.
2. SPOTTING FRAUD ATTEMPTS
â How can you recognise a fraudulent email or text message?
You should be wary of a message if it:
Comes from an unknown number or address.
Asks you to click on an unusual link.
Asks you for a payment or urgent confirmation.
Uses an urgent or threatening tone (âYour booking will expireâ, âPay nowâ).
Asks you to stay on a page until you have confirmed.
Contains spelling mistakes or is written in an unusual style.
â What about WhatsApp or social media?
Fraudulent messages sometimes circulate on WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram, mimicking booking confirmations or payment requests.
đ Golden rule: never click on a link received via these channels. Always check the information on our website or by telephone on +33 5 58 48 22 00.
â How can you check if a link is safe before clicking on it?
Hover over the link (without clicking) to see the actual address.
Check the domain name: it must match the official website (e.g. resasol.com).
Be wary of URL shorteners (bit.ly, tinyurl, etc.) in unsolicited messages.
If in doubt, copy and paste the address into your browser or contact us.
3. PROTECTING YOUR DATA AND DEVICES
â How can I protect my passwords?
Use long, complex passwords (at least 12 characters, including numbers, symbols and capital letters).
Do not reuse the same password across multiple websites.
Use a password manager to store them securely.
Change your passwords regularly, especially after a security incident.
â Should I enable two-factor authentication (2FA)?
Yes, absolutely! Two-factor authentication (or 2FA) adds an extra layer of security: even if your password is stolen, the hacker wonât be able to log in without the verification code (via SMS or an authentication app).
â How can I secure my smartphone or tablet?
Update your operating system and apps regularly.
Lock your device with a passcode, pattern or biometric authentication.
Only install official apps (Google Play, App Store).
Avoid using public Wi-Fi networks for sensitive activities (payments, online banking).
â Can I use a public Wi-Fi network whilst on holiday?
Public Wi-Fi hotspots (train stations, hotels, campsites) are less secure. If you must use them:
Avoid making payments or logging into your online banking.
Use a VPN if possible.
Log out of sensitive websites after use.
â How can I protect my children online?
Explain the risks to them (phishing, scams, strangers).
Set up parental controls on their devices.
Encourage them to report any suspicious messages or links.
Do not let children make online payments without supervision.
4. SECURE PAYMENTS AND BOOKINGS
â How can I pay securely on Resasol?
Always use the official website (https://www.resasol.com).
Check that the address begins with âhttps://â and that a padlock icon appears in the address bar.
Never share your bank details via email, text message or WhatsApp.
If in doubt, please call us before making a payment.
â Can I pay via WhatsApp or email?
No. We never ask for your bank details via email, text message or WhatsApp. All payments are made exclusively via our secure website or by telephone with an official host or hostess.
â How can I check that Iâm on the genuine website?
Check the URL: it must match exactly (e.g. resasol.com, not resas0l.com).
Look for the padlock in the address bar.
Be wary of copycat websites (similar design but a different URL).
If in doubt, type the address directly into your browser.
â What should I do if Iâve paid on a fake website?
Contact your bank immediately to block the transaction.
Keep any evidence (screenshots, emails, URLs).
File a complaint (via cybermalveillance.gouv.fr or your local police station).
5. WHAT TO DO IF AN INCIDENT OCCURS
â What should I do if Iâve clicked on a suspicious link?
Close the page immediately.
Do not enter any further information.
Disconnect from your Wi-Fi network if possible.
Run a virus scan on your device.
Change your passwords (email, bank account, etc.).
â What should I do if Iâve given out my bank details?
Contact your bank immediately to block your cards.
Monitor your accounts for any suspicious transactions.
File a complaint (via cybermalveillance.gouv.fr).
â What should I do if my device is infected with a virus?
Disconnect the device from the internet.
Run a full antivirus scan.
Delete any suspicious files.
Change your passwords from another uninfected device.
â Where can I report a phishing attempt or a scam?
In France: cybermalveillance.gouv.fr (official platform).
